奥立佛在妻子死后一直意志消沉，直至遇到了一位爽朗独立的事业女性才重燃爱火，可惜两人对“人道主义"所抱的立场完全不同，结果还是忍痛分手。本片编导企图将“社会关怀"带进单纯的爱情故事之中，使它变得更有深度。片中有不少在香港拍摄的地下工厂作业情形，但避免不了外国人看中国问题的“隔靴搔痒"毛病。
