影片讲述了法国女人莉莉安（友兰达·梦露饰）接到远在中国的儿子意外身亡的噩耗后，只身来到中国，把儿子的遗体接回家的故事。当她在一个完全陌生的国度，沿着儿子的足迹行走时，不知不觉触摸到了儿子的情感和生活的气息。这个悲伤的旅程，逐渐变成宝贵的经历，让她了解儿子的生活，重塑自我。
